Head of Finance (Fractional)

About the role

Xelix is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fractional Head of Finance to join our team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in driving our financial strategy and operations forward as we continue our rapid growth trajectory. 

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of finance, including traditional responsibilities such as financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and forecasting, while also spearheading initiatives such as building out new management reporting packs and implementing a new revenue recognition and invoicing system. Additionally, familiarity with US sales tax regulations would be advantageous. 

This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization's financial health and support our ambitious growth goals.

*Please note - this role is a Fractional role, starting with 1-2 days per week*

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all finance functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive management reporting packs and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the vendor pay run process, optimizing efficiency and accuracy in payments.
  • Implement a new revenue recognition and billing system, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Set up the finance function for scalability, developing processes and systems to support the company's growth trajectory.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function.
  • Oversee tax compliance and strategy, with a focus on US sales tax regulations and R&D tax credits.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within a high-growth B2B SaaS scale-up.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial reporting frameworks and KPIs.
  • Experience implementing financial systems and processes, with a track record of driving efficiency and scalability.
  • Familiarity with US sales tax regulations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Xero
